Former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Death Anniversary is observed on July 27. He is also known as The Missile Man of India. He took his last breath on July 27, 2015 while giving a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong.

World Bank has appointed Indian national Indermit Gill as its Chief Economist and Senior Vice President for Development Economics. Indermit Gill will succeed American economist Carmen Reinhart in the role and his appointment will be effective September 1, 2022.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the India International Bullion Exchange (IIBX) on July 29, 2022. It will be operationalised at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). This will facilitate efficient price discovery with the assurance of responsible sourcing and quality, apart from giving impetus to the financialisation of gold in India.

Along with IIBX, the PM will also launch NSE IFSC-SGX Connect. Under this Connect, all orders on NIFTY derivatives placed by members of Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) will be routed to and matched on the NSE-IFSC order matching and trading platform. PM Narendra Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the Headquarters Building of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). IFSCA is the unified regulator for the development and regulation of financial products, financial services and financial institutions in IFSCs in India.

Tata Steel has threatened to shut its UK operations unless the British government extends aid around £1.5 billion (about ₹14,400 crore) within the next one year to help the owner of the UK's largest steelworks reduce its carbon emissions. A transition fr9m carbon to a greener steel plant is the intention that we have. But this is only possible with financial help from the government.  N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons said.

Russia has decided to quit the International Space Station after 2024. This was confirmed by Russia's newly-appointed Roscosmos Chief Yury Borisov. US and Russia have worked side by side on the ISS since it has been in orbit in 1998. The announcement comes amid spike in tensions between Russia and West over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Bangladeshi mountaineer Wasfia Nazreen became the first person from Bangladesh to scale Pakistan’s K2, the world’s second highest mountain.

The Amarnath Yatra has been suspended due to inclement weather between Panchtarni and the cave. This comes after heavy rainfall was recorded in the area around the holy cave shrine due to which water level in a nearby stream rose. All the pilgrims were rushed back to Panchtarni camp.
