Below the G20 logo “Bharat” is written in the Devanagari script.

Theme of India’s G20 Presidency

The theme of India’s G20 Presidency is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth · One Family · One Future”. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is drawn from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishad, which means "The World Is One Family". Indian tradition mentions "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" meaning all living beings on the earth are a family.

The theme affirms the value of all life – human, animal, plant, and microorganisms and their interconnectedness on the Earth and in the universe. The theme also spotlights LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), with its associated, environmentally sustainable and responsible choices, both at the level of individual lifestyles as well as national development, leading to globally transformative actions resulting in a cleaner, greener and bluer future.

The concept of Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at COP26 in Glasgow on November 1, 2021. PM Modi called upon the global community and institutions to drive LiFE as an international mass movement towards “mindful and deliberate utilisation, instead of mindless and destructive consumption” to protect and preserve the environment. LiFE puts individual and collective duty on everyone to live a life that is in tune with Earth and does not harm it.

G20 meetings in India

G20 meetings will not be limited only to New Delhi. Drawing inspiration from its G20 Presidency theme of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - One Earth One Family One Future", India will host over 200 meetings in over 50 cities across 32 different workstreams, and would have the opportunity to offer G20 delegates and guests a glimpse of India's rich cultural heritage and provide them with a unique experience.

G20 Presidency

The Group does not have a permanent secretariat. The Presidency is supported by the Troika – previous, current and incoming Presidency. During India’s Presidency, the troika will comprise Indonesia, India and Brazil, respectively.
