नमस्कार दोस्तों, in this blog, I will tell you about civilian awards: Bharat Ratna and Padma awards which are given by government of India to honor civilian for exception service or achievement. Also we will talk about Padma Awards 2021 which is announced on Republic Day every year. We will know about everything about Bharat Ratna and Padma awards. Let's start with me.

About BHARAT RATNA

Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award of India. It is awarded for the exceptional service or performance in any field of human endeavour. The recommendations for Bharat Ratna are made by the Prime Minister to the President of India. The number of Bharat Ratna Awards is restricted to a maximum of three in a year. Government of India has conferred Bharat Ratna Award on 45 persons till date (according to government record).

About PADMA AWARDS

In 1954, The Government of India instituted two civilian awards: Bharat Ratna & Padma Vibhushan. Padma Vibhushan had three classes: Pahela Varg, Dusra Varg and Tisra Varg. But in 1955, These were renamed as Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri respectively. Padma Awards are given in three categories:

First, Padma Vibhushan: for exceptional and distinguished service.
Second, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of higher order.
Third, Padma Shri for distinguished service.

Announcement for Padma awards are made annually on the eve of Republic Day January 26, every year. Padma Awards Committee constituted by the Prime Minister of India recommends for Padma awards. Total number of awards are to be given in a year should not be more than 120. The nomination process is open to the public. Even self-nomination can be made. Government servants including those working with PSUs, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for these Awards. Padma awards are given for exceptional achievement or service in various discipline/ fields.

Science and Engineering
Trade and Industry
Medicine
Literature and Education
Civil Service
Sports
Others like propagation of Indian Culture, protection of Human Rights, Wild Life protection/conservation etc.

The awards are presented by the President of India in the month of March/April. Awardees are presented a Sanad (certificate) signed by the President and a medallion.

Padma Awads 2021

President of India has approved total 119 Padam award for the year 2021. Out of them 7 names are for the Padma Vibhushan, 10 names for the Padma Bhushan and 102 names for the Padma Shri.
