Whatsapp forces users to share data with Facebook: New Policy

नमस्कार दोस्तों, in today's blog we will talk about new policies of Whatsapp. Whatsapp is forcing users to share their personal data with Facebook. We will discuss everything about new policies. Let's start with me.

Whatsapp, an encrypted messaging app is updating its terms and privacy policy. New policies focus on user's data collection. Whatsapp announced that users would have to agree to let Facebook collect user's data including phone numbers, contact numbers, location, user's device, hardware model, operating system, browser, mobile network, IP address, mobile operator or ISP, language and time zone. Apart from this, Company can also collect information such as signal strength, battery level and app version.

"Whatsapp also added new section about ‘Transaction and Payment’. If users have used Whatsapp's payment service; company would access the details. Details may include payment account and transaction information." India TODAY.

New polices will come into effect from February 8, 2021. Users will have to accept new policies. If users do not agree, they will lose the access.

Representative from Whatsapp told the change was to allow business to store whatsapp chats using Facebook infrastructure.

"Whatsapp has also explained in detail how they work with Facebook and its group of companies, including the kind of information which is exchanged. This includes information around improving infrastructure and delivery systems. Safety and security around Facebook products, service experiences such as making suggestions for users, personalized content around purchase and transactions. The information exchange will include improving relevant offers and ads across the Facebook Company products": The Indian Express.

Some critics, CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk suggested users to move the encrypted messaging app Signal and Telegram. TechCrunch editor Mike Butcher tweeted: Signal and Telegram are now better alternatives if you are concerned about your privacy.

How to delete Whatsapp account

If new policies of Whatsapp makes to you worries, you can delete your Whatsapp account and remain safe from Whatsapp snooping. But before delete your Whatsapp account, be sure to do so. Because once you have deleted, all data will be removed. If you want get back on Whatsapp, you have to create new account. You can delete your account on Whatsapp from setting>account> Delete My Account. 

Apart from Whatsapp's new policies, I want to share with you that number of third parties are accessing your data through Facebook. Many of you are not aware. You can check Facebook > settings > your Facebook information > Off Facebook Activity. If you want no third party to access your Facebook information, turn off from there.
