SC's verdict on Central Vista Project: Go Ahead, part-1

 नमस्कार दोस्तों, in today's blog we will talk about Central Vista redevelopment project. What is vista project? What is the cost? And why was the matter in SC? We will know everything about the project. Let's start with me.

Central Vista is wide area in National capital New Delhi, spreaded from India Gate to President's House. This area covers President's House, Parliament of India, South block and North block having various ministerial offices. Indian government runs from here. All these iconic buildings were constructed during British government before 1931. These buildings were designed by British architects. Two British architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker designed house of parliament. Design of parliament building is inspired from Chausath Yogini Temple in Madhya Pradesh, India which is shown below.

In 2019, Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs proposed revamping of the 3 km long of Rajpath or Central Vista. This is known as Central Vista redevelopment project. Ministry proposed construction of various new buildings including new parliament in triangular shape next to existing one, common Central Secretariat and various administrative offices. Museum of India making, museum of Indian democracy, PM residence, PM office, complex for MPs, central conference centre and various buildings will be construed. Total amount of 20,000 crore will be spent on this project.

Project is targeted to complete till March 2024, while the construction of new parliament building will be completed by March 2022. In 2022, 75 years will be completed of independence, Parliament session will be held in new parliament building. Project cost of new parliament building is Rs. 971 crore. This New parliament building will be much bigger than previous one.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of new parliament building on December 10, 2020. The event was attended by various political leaders, cabinet ministers and ambassadors of different countries. PM Modi said the new parliament complex will witness emergence of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and give a call to citizens to put 'India First' in their endeavours. Tata Projects Ltd. won the bid to construct the new parliament building in September, 2020.
