India celebrated its 72nd Republic Day on January 26. India displayed its military power and cultural diversity on Republic Day parade at Rajpath. I am feeling proud writing, you also must feel proud reading the line that "On January 26 1950, The Indian Constitution came into the effect. Therefore, Republic Day has been celebrated every year in India on January 26, since 1950". January 26 was chosen as the date because on this day in 1930, the Indian National Congress announced Purna Swaraj.
On 72nd Republic day, due to corona pandemic there were many restrictions. This was first time since 1950, when there is no Chief guest on Republic day parade. UK PM Boris Johnson refused due to speard of new strain of corona in England. Nation wide lockdown was announced in England.
Highlights
Like every year, Republic day celebration start with paying tribute to the fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial by Prime Minister of India. "On Republic Day 2021, a total number of 32 tableaus from 17 states and union territories, six from the Defence ministry and nine from other Union ministries and paramilitary forces — depicted India’s rich cultural heritage, economic progress and defence prowess on Rajpath", Financial Express.
1. "Ayodhya and cultural Heritage of Uttar Pradesh", the tableau of UP displayed Ram Mandir.
2. Tableau of Punjab showcased the glory of 9th Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur.
3. A replica of Sun Temple was displayed on the Gujarat tableau. It’s 52 pillars denote 52 weeks of a Solar year.
4. With the theme of 'Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan: COVID' the tableau of the Department of Biotechnology depicted.
5. First-ever tableau of the Ladakh, shows Ladakh's culture & communal harmony.
6. The Digital India tableau showcased India's move towards digitalisation.
7. The Mobile Autonomous Launcher of the Brahmos Missile system is led by Captain Quamrul Zaman.
